Basically, it sounds like they're saying don't buy it if you don't like the packaging! I would love to hear what you think!

Our Emergen-C fizzing drink mix products are moisture-sensitive and effervescent, which means individual, airtight packages are necessary to keep the powder dry inside. We are always open to recyclable packaging options; however, to date we have not found recyclable packaging that preserves the quality of the product. We are consistently researching new ways of improving our current processes. And you'll be happy to know that our box is fully recyclable.
You might prefer to use our Super Gram III; it is very close in formulation to Emergen-C, but it is sustained-release tablets that are swallowed. Hi there. My feeling is it's probably best just to use something besides Emergen-C. Giving up Emergen-C was one of the things I had to do when I gave up plastic. Maybe their sustained release tablet is the answer? I can't see how they could keep an effervescent powder fresh without the individual packets, so maybe they really need to rethink the whole idea of their product in the first place. I think one way to put pressure on these companies is simply not to buy their products that come packaged individually. That will either cause them to change their product or their packaging or go out of business.
I love that you wrote to them. It's hard to know which companies to pursue for change and which ones to simply boycott. I'm pursuing Clorox to recycle BRITA filters because I know that the European company is already doing it, so it's possible, and because there is no other recyclable option for filtering water. Believe me, if there was, I'd just buy the recyclable filter and leave Clorox alone!

Thank you for checking out my little project. Like you I think we need to stop garbage before it happens! I don't use Britta because I have filtered water on my fridge. They aren't recyclable either as far as I know. I'm going to look in to it! Good Luck!
